Where you need to stay this summer in the Okanagan
Where do you stay when you come to one of the most popular summer holiday destinations in BC? Sure, you can look to booking.com and stay at a totally impersonal hotel or unremarkable AirBnB - but life is too short!
Here are three must stay guest houses that are not to be missed for your next getaway to the Okanagan. They're each located within their own micro region, giving you an opportunity to acclimate to different locales each time you visit.
Likely one of the coolest places you might ever stay at. Situated mountaintop in Penticton on an 11 acre parcel - owners Kate and Geoff have built three micro guesthouses cleverly placed throughout the property giving the utmost privacy and illusion you're in the middle of nowhere. With no electricity or plumbing, it forces you to totally disconnect and completely enjoy your surroundings. The main building houses the bathroom and kitchen, along with a grotto built into a rock wall. In one word: dreamy. Find them on Instagram or Facebook to reserve. Book early as they sell out quickly! @fuegoretreat
The Nest at Quails' Gate
Located in West Kelowna, within minutes of 10+ wineries and restaurants. Take in the jaw dropping views of Okanagan lake and surrounding vineyards - vistas that never get old. Find out about rates and availability here: https://www.quailsgate.com/the-nest/
Birch Block Vineyard + Guest House
Get cozy in this mid century refurbished A - frame that overlooks Skaha Lake and sits atop a 5 acre organic Pinot Noir vineyard. Owners Sarah and Murray hail from Vancouver originally, but were inspired to make their own wine after living in Paris while on sabbatical. They purchased the land, renovated the home, and planted the vines all with the intention of making an organic, low intervention style of wine. While they have recently launched their very first vintage, it has already sold out - stayed tuned for their next release ! Book here
